On a still Georgia morning, a yellow Lab
taught a man to surrender

Tim Rupard and his yellow Lab, Winston, moved as one. They were training for duck season and Winston was a natural, attentive to every command, his obedience not duty but joy. For Tim, it was just another morning in the field. What he didn't yet know was that a lesson was coming, and the dog would be the one to teach it.

Then Winston started to limp. The vet's diagnosis was crushing. Aggressive bone cancer. No cure, no hope, no options. Tim left the clinic shaken, and surprised himself by what he said next.

“God is giving me another option.”

Tim began to document Winston's journey online. As the dog's condition fluctuated, so did his faith, bolstered by friends, challenged by skeptics, stretched by silence from heaven. He visited a Bible that reportedly leaked oil. He fasted. He prayed. He doubted.

Through it all, God kept showing up. A friend named John called at exactly the right times. A stranger named Dewitt spoke a prophetic word. "Write the vision." A woman named Heather later described seeing Winston in a gold cape, bringing healing to children. The miracles weren't just in the news Tim wanted; they were in the people God kept sending.

Winston in his gold cape, after the recovery

When Winston reached his lowest point, Tim let go. He stopped asking for healing and prayed for peace. And then the real miracle began. Winston recovered fully, the cancer reversed in a way medicine could not explain. Today Tim leads the Winston Wins Ministry, and Winston visits children battling their own storms. The healing, Tim came to see, was never just for the dog. It was for the man.
